The first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer was released a few days ago, after weeks of speculation regarding the delays. The first Thor 4 trailer teases a dramatic announcement, but it’s not what we expected. In the video, we see Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman), but not Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale).
The lack of the film’s main antagonist calls into doubt the Thor 4 narrative. What is the plot of this film, and who will Thor (Chris Hemsworth) battle?
Even though there is a massive Gorr teaser in the first Love and Thunder trailer, MCU trailers are often confusing. Marvel’s merchandise, on the other hand, is less mysterious.
Until this week, the most significant Love and Thunder disclosures came from toy leaks. And it just so happens that a new product listing exposes an interesting Thor 4 plot detail. Before we begin, you should be aware that there will be major spoilers below.
The Toy Leaks
We only got our first sight at Gorr a few days ago, thanks to a fresh Love and Thunder figurines leak. The dolls will be available soon, and they also feature the clothes of some of the film’s other major characters.
Previously, we saw Mighty Thor’s suit and the Mjolnir hammer in a separate batch of leaks.
In addition, we got a sneak peek at Thor’s goat boat courtesy of new Lego sets for the film before seeing it in the trailer.
We reminded you at the time that MCU movie launches are always preceded by toy leaks. However, the Thor 4 sets are insufficient to validate the film’s plot.
The toys may have hinted at the presence of the Mjolnir hammer in Thor Love and Thunder leaks. But we don’t know how that will happen. We saw the hammer in Endgame, but Mjolnir came from another world. Furthermore, Captain America (Chris Evans) returned that weapon to its original timeline.
And we’ve known Jane will play Mighty Thor in the MCU since Marvel announced Thor 4 over three years ago. However, we have yet to discover why this occurs.
That’s a significant storyline point that isn’t addressed in the Thor 4 teaser. To her old lover’s surprise, the teaser depicts Jane as Mighty Thor, complete with the Mjolnir hammer.
A Critical Thor Love and Thunder Plot Detail Just Leaked
The partial answer to these questions has been unearthed by Redditors in a new Love and Thunder product description.
Jane has cancer, according to the Mighty Thor’s Helmet Replica. The Mjolnir hammer aids her in her fight against the sickness. In turn, she battles villains such as Gorr the God Butcher.
It is a significant Thor 4 plot reveal, and it makes sense to MCU fans who have also read the comics – according to the product description:
Jane Foster, Thor’s ex-girlfriend and astrophysicist, visited New Asgard while suffering from cancer, and her life was permanently transformed. Surprisingly, the broken pieces of Mjolnir, the thunder god’s hammer, converted her into the Mighty Thor and bestowed upon her Thor’s superpowers to combat internal and external dangers. She had become a heavenly defender, wielding Mjolnir herself, and a new hero had been created!
The Mighty Thor battled the mighty Gorr, the God Butcher, with the help of Thor, Valkyrie, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Gorr, who possessed supernatural powers, was driven to purge the universe of gods wherever he found them. Jane Foster was embroiled in an epic battle with loads of love and thunder, fighting cancer in her human form and Gorr in her heavenly form!
Thor Love and Thunder Plot Leak
The product description doesn’t say who fixed Mjolnir or how Jane became worthy. It’ll be intriguing to see if the next Thor 4 trailers and video tease or reveal these narrative points. And, given that Love and Thunder premieres on July 8th, we should be seeing more Thor 4 stuff shortly.
We’ll remind you that Jane’s cancer is mentioned in one Thor 4 storyline leak. However, we are unable to confirm any of it at this moment. It’s possible that the individual who authored it just took material from the comics. However, the item leak above indicates that Jane’s cancer diagnosis will be included in the film.
